Net proceeds by marketplace

Fee rates are commonly cited flat marketplace rates as a starting point — always confirm the current rate on the marketplace before relying on it, since these change and some vary by collection.

Gas is the fee paid to the network to process a transaction — separate from any marketplace fee. Here's why it swings so much, and what to check before you commit.

Why gas varies so much

Network congestion

Gas is an auction. When many people transact at once — a hyped mint, a market rally — the price to get included in the next block rises sharply, sometimes 10–50× a quiet-day baseline.

Which chain

Ethereum mainnet is typically the most expensive chain to transact on. Layer-2s (Base, Arbitrum, Optimism) and other L1s (Polygon, Solana) are usually a small fraction of the cost per transaction.

Transaction type

Minting usually costs more gas than a simple transfer. Listing is often gas-free (an off-chain signature); accepting an offer or completing a sale is on-chain and costs gas.

Before you commit

Check your wallet's live gas estimate right before confirming — it reflects current network conditions far better than any static figure, including the ranges on this page.
